Working on the cover art and animation for teeNsad's album "Gola pravda" required a radically different approach compared to our previous projects. The task was to create a highly commercial, composed, and elegant visual in an editorial style. Instead of the usual chaos or grunge, the focus shifted to clean lines, meticulous color grading, and deep metaphors within the animation.
Video Production
After receiving the raw photo from the artist, I focused on perfecting it to the standard of a high-end magazine cover. The main effort went into delicate skin retouching and complex color grading to preserve a natural look while adding a premium, commercial polish. The real creative challenge was animating the cover. To maintain a connection with teeNsad's previous releases, which were rich in hand-drawn graphics, I decided to introduce dynamic elements. Exclusively in the animated version of the cover, hand-drawn marker trails begin to appear on the perfectly clean walls. This isn't just a stylistic choice; it's a deliberate metaphor. The markers symbolize the permanent imprints that life events leave on the artist, while the song itself acts as a trigger that makes these memories resurface.
Cover Design
Designing the static version of the cover required extreme attention to detail and color harmony. The main challenge was finding the absolute perfect shade of red, which was meant to set the mood for the entire album. I spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with the palette, gradients, and contrasts so that the red wouldn't look too aggressive or cheap. Instead, it had to exude commercial elegance and composure, creating the perfect backdrop for the retouched portrait and fully realizing the artist's original vision.
