Plaaaato - Зачекай ще трохи
Dynamic video teaser for the shoegaze album by Ukrainian indie artist Plaaaato (2022). Featuring lo-fi VFX, visual distortion, and hand-drawn text.
This project was one of my first steps into the Ukrainian underground music scene. Working on the promo teaser for the album "Zachekay shche trokhy" by indie artist Plaaaato required a subtle understanding of the shoegaze genre to visually convey its specific, dense sound. The goal was to create a short, highly atmospheric, and dynamic promo that organically reflected the mood of the upcoming release.
Video Production
In 2022, Ukrainian indie artist Plaaaato was preparing to release a new shoegaze album. This project was a milestone for me, serving as one of my first serious interactions with the local underground scene. The main challenge was to translate the audio characteristics of shoegaze into a visual medium. I needed to create a video that physically conveyed the feeling of "overdriven" sound while maintaining a crafted, lo-fi atmosphere.
To achieve the right mood, I applied aggressive lo-fi effects and visual distortion as an equivalent to guitar overdrive. To emphasize the DIY aesthetic, I avoided standard fonts and instead integrated text that was entirely hand-drawn and animated frame by frame. The result was a highly dynamic video that perfectly synchronized with the track's sound. This project became an essential experience for me in developing my own style and the technique of translating complex musical vibes into the language of video.
